With its wooden chalets, snow-covered forests, and mountain valleys La Tzoumaz has all the charm of a traditional Swiss village. Situated in the shadow of Mont Blanc and the Grand Combin, it is located at the heart of the Four Valleys, one of the biggest ski areas in the Alps.
A peaceful alternative to nearby Verbier, the village has several good bars and restaurants where you can enjoy gourmet food and a glass of Valais wine, as well as a nightclub, and its centre is a short two minute walk from the Chalet.
Activities in the Surrounding Area
For non-skiers there are 12km of cross-country winter hiking trails, and with sledges or snowshoes you can discover untouched nature on panoramic trails that will take your breath away.
La Tzoumaz also boasts the longest toboggan run in French-speaking Switzerland at 10km, as well as paragliding and hanggliding for the more adventurous.
For something more sedate there is a natural outdoor ice rink opposite the cable cars, as well as a heated indoor pool, or you can relax in the thermal spas at Saillon a short 15 minute drive away.
Steeped in 7,000 years of history Sion is the capital of Valais, and with its beautiful medieval châteaux and great restaurants, bars, and shopping, is well worth a visit.
If culture and history are your thing then there are over 50 museums across the Valais region to satisfy your appetite including the Musée et Chiens du St-Bernard where you can find out about the legendary St-Bernard dogs, the Valais Museum of Wine and Winegrowing in Sierre, or the artistic Gianadda Foundation in Martigny.
